A man convicted of fatal knife attacks on 16-year-old twin girls more than three decades ago was executed Tuesday in Texas.

Garcia Glenn White, 61, was pronounced dead at 6:56 p.m. CDT after receiving a lethal injection at the state prison in Huntsville.

He was convicted of the murders of Annette and Bernette Edwards in December 1989. The bodies of the twin girls and their mother, Bonita Edwards, were found in their Houston apartment.

White confessed to killing a total of five people in three separate attacks. His first victim was Greta Williams in 1989 and his last victim was Hai Pham, whom he killed during a robbery at his supermarket in 1995.

White apologized repeatedly for the killings in his final words. “First, I would like to apologize for all the wrongs I have done and for the pain I have caused the Edwards family,” he said from the death chamber, according to a transcript provided to him Newsweek from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

“I regret, I apologize and I pray that you find peace, comfort and closure in your heart for the wrong I have done and the pain I have caused you and everyone else I have hurt.” added. I just want it.” I apologize; I take responsibility for it.”

This is a groundbreaking story. More to follow.
