The Texas Rangers are investigating the death of a Mitchell County deputy

LORAINE, Texas – The Texas Rangers are investigating a death in Mitchell County.

Mitchell County Sheriff Patrick Toombs confirmed Thursday that there was a death Wednesday in Loraine.

Toombs also said the case has now been turned over to the Texas Rangers for investigation because the incident involved a Mitchell County deputy.

He would not confirm that the accident was caused by the deputy, but said the accident “involved a deputy and others.”
