“Jets' Aaron Rodgers Appears on Injury Report With Illness Concerns”

The New York Jets are 2-2 after failing to capitalize on any offensive magic in their game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday. The Jets failed to score a touchdown and quarterback Aaron Rodgers was hit after five sacks.

Now Rodgers revealed on “The Pat McAfee Show” that he is struggling with a knee injury.

Host Pat McAfee first mentioned the image of Rodgers on the bench with a towel over his face, which instantly became a meme. McAfee then asks how Rodgers is doing after the brutal loss to the Broncos.

“I feel a little under the weather. Did a few vaccinations. The knee is a little swollen,” said Rodgers.

While it's not uncommon for quarterbacks to be sacked and feeling a bit banged up, the fact that Rodgers' knee is swollen could be a concern. That concern has now increased as the Jets' signal-caller has appeared on the injury report.

According to Rich Cimini of ESPN, “Aaron Rodgers (knee) will be on the injury report, but he will practice fully. Saleh says he's not worried. #Jets”

Cimini initially states that Rodgers is on the injury report but will train fully. Rodgers was then listed as a “limited” participant because he missed the stretching exercise period.

Admittedly, both of these posts seem to indicate that Rodgers is doing well, but the concern then comes in the form of the fact that Rodgers is no longer a young quarterback. He is currently 40 years old and is recovering from a severe Achilles tendon rupture in 2023.

Rodgers is one of the toughest quarterbacks in the league, as his career has proven. However, he's still on the rise, and big throws like Sunday could cause him to miss some time.

A swollen knee doesn't appear to be a major concern for Jets head coach Robert Saleh, but if Rodgers is sacked again and somehow ends up on the same knee, he could suffer significant damage.

With Rodgers under center, the Jets have the best possible chance of making the playoffs. That doesn't mean the team should allow Rodgers to continue playing despite a serious injury.

As Rodgers suggested in the clip above, “there’s still a lot of football left.” But there is still plenty of football that should inform Saleh that he can sit Rodgers out for a week while he fully recovers.

The Jets are at least 2-2. They can afford to potentially lose a game while Rodgers heals.

Despite the injury, Rodgers appears to be doing well and ready for Week 5. The problem is that the Jets are playing the red-hot Minnesota Vikings and their defense could cause all sorts of problems for Rodgers.
