Driven to Victory! – Introducing Competitive Drives – Overwatch 2 – Blizzard News

Season 12 is coming to a close and this weekend is your chance to make one final attempt to climb the season's competitive ranks and earn amazing new rewards! Competitive drives begin this weekend. So read on to find out everything you need to know about this limited-time event.

Collect more competition points and new rewards

You already earn Competitive Points when you play and win competitive games, but there will be an additional one starting Friday, October 4th at 8:00 a.m. (PT) and continuing until Monday, October 7th at 8:00 a.m. (PT). Incentive to play competitive games with a special Drive Meter currently in the Competitive Play menu. For each game you win, you add a Drive Score, which fills the meter. If you lose games, you lose a small portion of your driving progress. However, reaching each checkpoint guarantees your progress and rewards.

Collect drive points

Every time you win a match, you will receive a Drive Score equal to 10 times the total Skill Rank percentage from that match. For example, if you earn 21% towards your next level and division, you will receive 210 Drive Points. If you lose a game, your Drive Score will be reduced by five times the total skill rank percentage penalty, or half the penalty for a win. So if you lose a game that costs you 19% of your Competitive Rank progress, you will be deducted 95 Drive Points.

Checkpoints and Rewards

At each checkpoint you will receive either bonus Competitive Points or a new and exclusive cosmetic reward called Signature, which is a stylized support for your BattleTag as it appears throughout the game. Signatures appear on your name card, hero portrait, “Play of the Game” highlight intros, and more. Once you complete a checkpoint, you cannot lose your Drive Score below this threshold, even if you lose further games.

Here's the rewards breakdown.

  • Level 1 – 300 total driving points – 500 competition points
  • Level 2 – 700 Total Driving Points – Signature
  • Level 3 – 1200 Total Driving Points – 1000 Competition Points
  • Level 4 – 1700 Total Drive Points – Advanced Signature
  • Level 5 – 2200 Total Power Points – 1500 Competitive Points
  • Level 6 – 2700 total driving points – Elite Signature

Strengthen your signatures with every ride

Each of the next three seasons (including Season 12) will have a new promotion for you to take part in. With each action you can unlock a new level of prestige for your signatures. Regardless of your rank, only the most dedicated players achieve the most prestigious Elite Signature Card and complete a ride. When the next Competitive Drive begins, your signature will gain Prestige, indicated by a Roman numeral that counts the number of Drives you have completed in that Competitive Drive period over these three seasons. When a new Competitive Drives period begins, all players' signatures will be reset and a new Signature reward can be earned in subsequent seasons.
