Which Bayern Munich players should be left out of the starting eleven?

On Wednesday evening, Bayern Munich suffered their first defeat of the season. A number of players played from the starting eleven themselves – let's analyze who they are.

We'll start with a player who was only really in the team because Jamal Musiala gave him some rest. Kingsley Coman has not indicated that he should start against Eintracht Frankfurt this weekend. The Frenchman was completely predictable and easy to defend, even though his opponent Ezri Konsa was not a natural right-back.

Apart from Holsten Kiel, Bayern achieved their best performances so far this season without Coman in the team. Without him they play more unpredictable, and Vincent Kompany has to see that for himself. The fact that he was hooked at halftime perhaps suggests that this is indeed the case.

The next choice is a player who is also not a guaranteed starter, but whose starting place against Villa was less filled than Coman's. While Konrad Laimer didn't do much wrong defensively, his limitations in ball control contributed to Bayern struggling to overcome their hosts.

Whether it's Raphael Guerreiro at right-back, or Joshua Kimmich making way for João Palhinha in midfield, or perhaps even Kimmich at right-back and Guerreiro in midfield – Laimer will have to leave the team for the trip to Frankfurt if Bayern want to optimize their chances at all three points on Sunday.

After all, the biggest supporter of the team that should emerge this season is Serge Gnabry. This may feel the hardest, but the needs must be. It's been a frustrating two games for him and Bayern need new impetus to turn the situation on its head.

Leroy Sané has been back from injury for around a month and it's time to put him in the starting lineup instead.

With Alphonso Davies seemingly playing a more reversed role this season, Bayern lack width on the left. Sané is exactly the type of player to get in there, as he masters the passes of players like Musiala, Olise and Kane.

Verdict: Palhinha for Laimer, Musiala for Coman and Sane for Gnabry. Otherwise – unchanged.
