Reno Police Traffic Ticket 95 for Pedestrian Safety Enforcement

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Reno Police issued 95 traffic citations in downtown Reno's pedestrian areas and school zones in September.

Police also issued 33 warnings.

“We focused our efforts on drivers and pedestrians who violated pedestrian safety laws,” the police said in a statement.

Nevada state law requires pedestrians to use sidewalks, crosswalks and pedestrian bridges and obey all traffic control signs and signals, police said. If there is no sidewalk, pedestrians must walk on the left side of the street facing traffic. Motorists must give way to pedestrians and avoid passing vehicles stopped for pedestrians.

The Nevada Office of Traffic Safety provided the grant to the Reno Traffic Division to conduct the enforcement activities.
