A Texas-based food brand is being acquired in a billion-dollar deal

The story of Siete Foods is one that Hollywood studios will one day write scripts about. It's a Texas business dream come true: The family starts a small business and works hard to become one of the most well-known brands and thus become rich across generations.

As a teenager, Garza was diagnosed with several autoimmune diseases, including lupus. To combat her health problems, she developed unique recipes with her mother, eventually making an almond flour-based tortilla. Siete brought together all seven (siete) members of the Garza family on their journey to health.

Ten years later, the thriving company offers a wide range of healthy products, including grain-free Fuego potato chips and Tortillas, enchilada sauces, taco seasonings, botana sauces, Mexican cookies, vegan beans, grain-free puffs and salsas, cassava flour tortillas and spicy traditional sauce.

Siete sells its products not only in Texas, but in parts of the United States The production location is currently in Austin.

PepsiCo, which already owns Lay's, Doritos, Cheetos, Gatorade, Pepsi-Cola, Mountain Dew, Quaker and SodaStream, says the acquisition will complement its portfolio by adding an authentic Mexican-American brand while enhancing its better-for-you food offerings .

The deal is expected to be formally approved in the first half of next year. Limited details are currently available.
