New guidelines for round 2 with top drug manufacturers

As part of the Inflation Reduction Act, CMS released final guidance on Wednesday outlining the process for the second round of negotiations under the Medicare Drug Price Negotiation Program.

“For the first time ever, HHS negotiated directly with drug manufacturers to reduce drug prices for Medicare,” said HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra. “The new, lower prices for the first 10 drugs will save the American people billions. Today we are laying the foundation for the second round of negotiations.”
