Police are searching for a suspicious vehicle after a fatal hit-and-run in South Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Omaha police are investigating after an 89-year-old man was killed in a fatal hit-and-run Tuesday morning.

Authorities released images of what they said was a suspicious vehicle on Wednesday. They say it looks like a silver 2007 to 2012 Chevy Silverado 1500 Z71 crew cab.

A report states that the truck appears to have “heavy rust, a replacement rim on the right passenger side and damage to the driver's side headlight.”

Walter Tighe, 89, is the man who was struck and killed Tuesday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, the truck was last seen traveling northbound on 36th Street.

Residents in the area say they are concerned for their safety.

Anyone with information about the suspect vehicle is asked to contact OPD or Omaha Crime Stoppers.
