Three new cars, new GT Sophy Tracks – GTPlanet

The content of the heading for the next one Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.52 has been released as expected ahead of its release on Thursday, October 3rd.

While we deviate a bit from the usual schedule for updates, which traditionally, but not always, arrive on the last Thursday of each month, the usual pre-update reveals were largely in the order we would normally see.

This started with a “silhouette” teaser from Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi just before the third round of the GT World Series in Tokyo this weekend. Today's high-level reveal highlighted some of the key content, and we'll see more in the patch notes for the update when it goes live tomorrow.

Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.52 New Cars

We already knew that three cars would be coming to the update, but not exactly which ones. However, it seems that our guesses based on the silhouettes are pretty close to the mark:

  • Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII MR GSR 2004
  • Nissan GT-R (R35) Premium Edition T-Spec 2024
  • Toyota HiAce Van DX 2016

The GT-R is one of the newest cars ever added to a Gran Turismo game above Update and represents a curtain call for the model as emissions regulations make the car obsolete. A new design refreshes the exterior, while under the skin it's the same GT-R we know and love with its 562 horsepower VR38DETT. The T-Spec is available in some fantastic colors including Midnight Purple above (inspired by a color of the same name on the R33 and R34 Skyline) and Millennium Jade (from the R34 era).

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII is another all-wheel drive Japanese high-performance machine. This is a return to previous GT games and fills a gap in the current Lancer roster in the title. It's part of the CT9A family, based on the larger Cedia, starting with the Evo VII and joining the Evo IX, which was added earlier this year.

Our third and final car for this update can be rated “E” for Esoteric, as we get the game's second Toyota minivan – after the Alphard – and the first based on a utility vehicle.

The HiAce DX is a sibling of the HiMedic ambulance that was added last August, but in its original form as a van-based personnel carrier rather than a dedicated, modified emergency vehicle. We're hoping this will involve an engine swap from the start, but it'll probably be a pretty popular model either way.

Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.52 New GT Sophy courses

You will be able to compete against them GT7Thanks to advanced machine learning, Gran Turismo Sophy AI learned two new tracks in this update, expanding the possibilities for more exciting offline racing.

It's perhaps a surprise that Dragon Trail Seaside isn't one of the available routes yet, considering much of Sophy's original training took place on this route, but as of 1.52 it will be forward only. You can also race on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit.

There are a total of five new races coming up, three of them in a new series for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution series. It's not yet confirmed if this will be a new bonus menu book in the GT Cafe section, so we'll have to wait and see.

Under the Evolution Meeting banner, these three will visit Monza, the inverted version of the combined Kyoto Yamagiwa+Miyabi track, and – somewhat unusually – the Colorado Springs Lake circuit. For this final race you will need dirt tires.

Additionally, there is now a new race at the Circuit de Sainte-Croix A in the Nissan GT-R Cup, while the Sunday Cup gets a race at the Tokyo Expressway Central Clockwise.

There is an additional extra menu book that focuses on the Audi brand – and it seems a bit pricey. According to the pictures, you need to collect the Audi Sport quattro Gr.B from Legends Cars, the 3,000,000 crr Audi R18 e-tron 2016 and the first generation Audi TT 3.2. The reward is currently undetermined.

Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.52 New landscapes and other changes

Chicago is a new Scapes location, with 20 locations from the Windy City available in this unique photo mode. We haven't seen all 20 yet, but in the preview it looks like there's a good mix of urban, industrial and lakeside locations.

There are no further details logged at this time – as usual, we'll have to wait for the patch notes, and even then there will be other unannounced changes – but keen players should make note of the fact that the version number has been skipped over.

The last update in early August was 1.50 and was only introduced to fix a serious physics bug. We would have expected 1.51 to be the next update, but two months later it's actually 1.52. This could indicate that more work is being done on the vehicle physics quirks that have particularly impacted the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo models, as this time around one more race will be introduced, along with three special races and possibly a menu book.

Anyway, we'll find out more when the update arrives around 06:00 UTC on Thursday, October 3rd. Check out the latest information here!
