Slovan Bratislava vs Manchester City

Manchester City will be aiming for their first win in the new Champions League format when they travel to Slovakia to face Slovan Bratislava on Tuesday.

Pep Guardiola's side have an unusual run of just one win in four games in all competitions, although the others have all ended in draws and they have played Arsenal and Inter Milan in this series. Still, the reigning Premier League champions will have been disappointed not to have beaten Newcastle last time out, losing their top spot to Liverpool in the process and keeping just one clean sheet in their last seven games.

Slovan Bratislava have won seven of eight domestic games to sit top of the Super Liga, but were completely overwhelmed by Celtic in their Champions League opener, losing 5-1 in Glasgow.

That result raised questions about their competitiveness in this expanded league format and even on home soil they must fear an in-form Erling Haaland could get a result.

Good evening!

Welcome to The Independents Coverage of today's Champions League game as Manchester City travel to Slovakia to face Slovan Bratislava in the second league phase.

City's first Champions League game ended in a 0-0 draw, with Inter Milan and Pep Guardiola's side needing a win going into this game. They also drew 1-1 with Newcastle in their last Premier League game, having recently failed to beat Arsenal's 10-man team.

Slova Bratislava may be the perfect team for City. They lost their first Champions League game 5-1 to Celtic and with City's added firepower it could be another difficult night for the Slovakian side.

We'll be sharing all the team news, lineups and updates throughout the evening, so stick with us as we prepare for kickoff at 8 p.m.
