College football player rankings: Cam Ward and Jalen Milroe are On3 Impact's top 10 QBs after Week 5

Week 5 of the college football season was a standout week at the quarterback position. Filled with many impressive performances from some of the best signal-callers in the country on some of college football's biggest stages.

Many quarterbacks had excellent performances early in the season but showed they can put up big numbers this weekend despite even better finishes. While others received a much-needed bye week at the start of week six.

With this in mind, the experts at On3 took another look at their top 10 quarterback rankings. Revamped their list and made some changes following this weekend's action in an updated Top 10, which can be seen below.

Miami quarterback Cam Ward remains at the top of the On3 rankings after another strong performance. He threw for 343 yards and three touchdowns, along with 57 yards on the ground and a rushing score in Miami's ACC opener Virginia Tech on Friday evening.

The Hokies presented Miami's toughest challenge yet, leading the Hurricanes by 10 points in the fourth before Ward led a 14-0 run to end the ballgame. Leading the nation with 18 touchdown passes and second-most passing yards with 1,782 so far this season.

Milroe is rapidly climbing up the quarterback rankings after his outstanding performance against quarterbacks Georgia in one of the best college football games in recent history. The jump from No. 5 to No. 2 after leading the Crimson Tide to a unique 41-34 victory that now makes them the top-ranked team in the country.

He did it with his arms and legs on Saturday, throwing for 374 yards and rushing for 117 yards, scoring two scores each through the air and on the ground. With 1,237 total yards and 18 touchdowns in four games, he established himself as a premier quarterback.

Jaxson Dart had his most disappointing performance of the season in a 20-17 loss to Ole Miss Kentucky on the weekend. He completed 66.7% of his passes for 261 yards and one touchdown, all season lows for the Rebels signal-caller.

SEC play didn't start off well for Dart and his team, but he's undoubtedly still one of the best passers in the country. He still leads the FBS with 1,815 yards to go and has scored 16 total touchdowns so far this season.

Shedeur Sanders led the Buffs to their most impressive conference win since his father took over the Colorado program last season. Dominant UCF on Saturday with a 48-21 road win, extending their season record to 4-1 and remaining undefeated in Big 12 play.

After an uncharacteristic interception on Colorado's first possession, Sanders rebounded with a masterful performance. He threw for 290 yards and three touchdown passes and totaled 14 touchdowns this season.

Beck falls several spots after another slow start to another SEC game. He turned the ball over a total of four times in Georgia's loss, in which the Bulldogs trailed 28-0 at the start of the game.

But after a slow start, Beck mounted an impressive comeback that gave Georgia its first lead of the game with 2:31 left in the fourth quarter. He threw for a career-high 439 yards in an instant classic that Alabama finished strong.

For the second straight year, Quinn Ewers was unable to suit up for the Longhorns after suffering an abdominal injury in Week 3 against the Longhorns UTSA. Now we allow ourselves some rest in the bye week before a duel against Red River Rivalry Oklahoma.

Texas had remained undefeated without Ewers Arch Manning The offense runs under the middle. But with this being the third straight season he's been sidelined by injury, one of the best quarterbacks in the country could enter the NFL Draft process with some durability concerns.

After a slow start to the season, Oregon continues to roll and climb up the rankings. He'll get plenty of help from quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who has been one of the most efficient passers in the country so far this season.

Gabriel threw his first interception of the year this weekend when his intended receiver fell out of his route. But he's still completed an impressive 81.5% of his passes for 1,192 yards and nine touchdowns in four games this season.

The Volunteers had a bye week over the weekend, which will allow first-year starting quarterback Nico Iamaleava to get some rest and better prepare for their next match. Assume Arkansas this weekend after a standout performance against Oklahoma.

Iamaleava is one of the most talented passers in the country and has led college football's highest-scoring offense through the first five weeks of the season. He threw for 892 yards and seven touchdowns in his redshirt freshman season and had plenty of room to continue to grow.

Garrett Nussmeier had big shoes to fill this year after following in the footsteps of the Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels. But so far he's done a great job leading one of the most explosive passing attacks in the country and a 4-1 Tigers team.

A fearless gunslinger, Nussmeier ranks in the top five in the country in passing yards and touchdowns so far this season. With the help of some talented wideouts and one of the best offensive lines in college football, he threw for 1,652 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Last but not least: Will Howard. Who rounds out the top 10 again after leading the Buckeyes to their first Big Ten win of the season in a win over Michigan State.

Howard threw for 1,039 yards and eight touchdowns in his first four games for Ohio State after joining the team Kansas State this offseason. A muscular athlete who scored a touchdown on the ground in each of his last three games.
