Saturday appointments for Texas driver's licenses are now available for October

If you're looking to make an appointment to get a driver's license or Texas ID card and the days of the week aren't ideal, you're in luck this month.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is offering Saturday appointments at select driver license offices across the state through the end of October.

DPS announced Wednesday that participating offices in all regions of Texas will be open for driver's license and ID card services by appointment for a half day every Saturday in October.

Customers can visit the DPS website to book Saturday appointments for October 5, 12, 18 and 26.

Information about driver's license services, how to book appointments, and what to bring to appointments can also be found on the DPS website.

Don't be a no-show

DPS asks customers to only book appointments that they can attend. In the event you can't make it, the agency encourages people to cancel early instead of simply not showing up.

Saturday appointments were also offered in September. Appointments filled up quickly, but about 30% of customers didn't show up for their appointments. That's almost one in three people who take an appointment that another person could have used.

“The department would like to remind customers who have appointments and are no longer able to keep them to please cancel them so that they can then be used by other customers who are available and would like to use them,” DPS said. “There are no appointments This has a huge negative impact on the number of customers the department can serve.”

To cancel an appointment, log in to the DPS scheduler. Select “existing appointment” and cancel it.

If you make a new appointment, your existing appointment will be automatically canceled.
