The entrance lanes of the Stevenson Expressway were closed early Wednesday evening near Pulaski Road due to a shooting investigation, officials said.

The closure affects northbound I-55 between Pulaski Road and Kedzie Avenue. Motorists are urged to seek alternative routes.

According to Total Traffic Chicago, the closure caused significant traffic congestion south to the I-55/I-294 interchange and was triggered by a shooting investigation.

It is not known how many people were injured in the shooting. No further information was available.
