Mifflin County Youth Park in Reedsville hosts Big Valley Harvestfest on Friday and Saturday.

Whether Thanksgiving, Fall Festival or Kesselfest – there are numerous outdoor activities this weekend, among other things. Check them out.

If you're more into indoor activities, why not consider a charity auction or perhaps some old-fashioned square dancing.

Trade fairs and festivals

• 39th annual Big Valley Harvestfest, Friday and Saturday at Mifflin County Youth Park, 110 W. Logan St., Reedsville. The show starts on Friday afternoon. Join over 50 vendors for food and fun. Bring your lawn chairs and sit in front of the stage as Make Mine Country entertains on Friday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Come back on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for events like the kids area with free petting zoo, free balloon treats and fun games.

• Thompsontown Fall Fest, Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thompsontown Volunteer Fire Co. No. 8, 55 State St., Thompsontown. Shop at local vendors, bring your kids to the petting zoo, pony rides and bounce house, participate in the cornhole tournament sponsored by Journey Church, and enjoy delicious food including appetizers from Smokehouse Griddle, Juniata County Helping Hands and Guante Coffee and pastries. Entry and parking are free.

Tuscarora Valley Heritage Days Fifth Annual Kettle Fest, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, 6201 Route 75 South, East Waterford. All dishes are prepared in a kettle: chicken corn, ham, bean and beef vegetable soups as well as chili and scrapple. There will be an indoor/outdoor flea market and craft vendors starting at 8 a.m. The kettle soups can be purchased from 10:00 a.m. while stocks last. More information can be found on Facebook.

Juniata Christian School's 48th Annual Benefit Auction

This auction will be held Friday from 12 to 9 p.m. and begin at 8 a.m. Saturday at Lost Creek Community Park, Main Street, McAlisterville and will feature beautiful quilts, home goods, outdoor items, toys, tools, trips, gift cards and more. A mushroom walk at Whipple Dam State Park in Petersburg on Sunday should reveal many different species.

Mushroom Hike at Whipple Dam State Park, join the Central Pennsylvania Mushroom Club with special guest Bill Russell for an introduction to mushrooms, Sunday, noon to 3 p.m., Whipple Dam State Park, 3746 Laurel Run Road, Petersburg. The program includes a short introduction to mushrooms and their growth, followed by a walk to the blacksmith shop. Please bring a basket or plastic bag. Meet in Pavilion No. 3. Kord Aurand Memorial Rodeo

Free square dancing

Ellen Chapel Church, 11798 Ferguson Valley Road, Lewistown, is hosting a free square dance Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. There will be a gift of love and hot food and drinks for sale at the event.
