$30,000 reward in hunt for teenager charged in fatal shooting at Columbia Mall

BALTIMORE – Howard County police are working with the U.S. Marshalls to locate and arrest a Maryland teenager wanted in connection with a fatal July 27 shooting at the Mall of Columbia.

William Thomas Marshall, also known as “Junior,” was charged in Maryland District Court for Howard County with first-degree murder for the shooting death of a 17-year-old at The Mall at Columbia.

During a standoff at the food court, police allege that 17-year-old Marshall targeted and killed Angelo Little, a senior-to-be from Columbia.

Little was pronounced dead at the scene by investigators, while Marshall managed to escape.

For two months there was no clear picture of what he looked like. At the time of the shooting, Marshall was wearing dark clothing, a hoodie, and his face was partially covered.

On August 18, the Howard County Police Department released an image of the 17-year-old pictured below.

Identification of juvenile suspects is generally not permitted under Maryland state law, even if charged as an adult. However, officials made the exception “for the sole purpose of facilitating the apprehension of a child and ensuring public safety.”

The shooting sparked unrest among Columbia residents, who were reportedly shocked by the incident.

“We believe Columbia is one of the safest cities, and when something like this suddenly happens, it makes us very scared,” said Punam Thapa, a nearby business owner in Columbia.

The U.S. Marshals Service is offering $20,000 in addition to the $10,000 the Howard County Police Department offered for information leading to Marshall's arrest, for a total of $30,000.
