PewDiePie banned Twitch for streaming old YouTube videos

Popular YouTuber and streamer PewDiePie, also known as Felix Kjellberg, was briefly banned from Twitch on October 3, 2024, while streaming a loop of his old YouTube videos. The ban was widely discussed on social media and made it trend on platforms like X (formerly Twitter). According to StreamerBans, an automated account that tracks streamer bans, the ban only lasted 14 minutes and 24 seconds before it was lifted.

Fans and users on Despite the jokes, many of his fans defended Kjellberg and stated that Twitch made a mistake by banning him. One fan commented: “It would have been unfair. I don’t see any difference between any other streamer and Bob Ross’ channel.”

Others pointed out that PewDiePie is now a family man looking after his child and suggested that Twitch should be more lenient. One user wrote: “Twitch shouldn’t ban a man who has a family to take care of. PewDiePie is truly in the era of his loving husband and father.”

Similar short bans have occurred on Twitch, with streamers like Shroud and LIRIK facing similar issues, raising questions about Twitch's policies and enforcement practices.
