Bank Independent is one of America's 200 Most Popular Employers in 2024

Bank Independent was named one of America's 200 Most Loved Workplaces in Newsweek Magazine's annual list compiled by Most Loved Workplace®, a division of the Best Practice Institute (BPI).

The bank secured the 54th spot, making it the top-ranked financial institution in Alabama and the state's third-largest company overall, behind only Milos Tea and Southern Veterinary Partners.

This is the third year in a row that Bank Independent has been included in the list, which recognizes companies that prioritize employee wellbeing and workplace culture.

The 2024 List surveyed more than 2.6 million employees at companies of various sizes and assessed how these organizations maintain respect, collaboration and alignment of values between employers and employees.

“Being recognized as one of America’s Favorite Employers for three years in a row speaks volumes about the strength of our culture,” said Rick Wardlaw, CEO of Bank Independent. “At Bank Independent, we value creating a workplace where every team member feels valued and empowered. This commitment not only promotes personal and professional growth, but also creates trust with our customers. Our employees’ commitment to each other and to the community is the foundation of this recognition.”

The list measures employee sentiment in five critical areas: future prospects in the company, career success, alignment of employer and employee values, respect and collaboration. Additional factors such as diversity, equity, inclusion, career development and leadership were also considered when determining the rankings.

According to the Best Practice Institute, this year's expansion to 200 companies signals a growing focus on creating positive work environments.

Companies that promote the success and well-being of their employees are increasingly recognized as drivers of organizational performance and employee retention.
