Ole Miss could miss several players against South Carolina

Ole Miss released its injury report on Wednesday, which new SEC rules require the team to complete before every conference game. Twelve players were listed as questionable, most of whom were key players on both sides of the ball.

The Rebels have further reports to release by 8:00 PM EST on Thursday and Friday, so we'll see which players are still questionable. It's likely most, if not all, will be there, but there's also a chance some won't be there, which could be a problem for head coach Lane Kiffin.

In addition to the 12 players listed as questionable, offensive lineman Jayden Williams was also listed as questionable. In contrast, WR Cayden Lee, CB Trey Amos and CB Brandon Turnage were all likely. The Rebels have already lost seven players. However, those listed as questionable are more significant since they are starters.

Princely Umanmielen, Tre Harris and JJ Pegues are some of the key players with the questionable tag, but I wouldn't be too worried right now. I will be concerned when the injury report is released on Saturday, about two hours before kick-off.

Some wonder if these are mind games by Lane Kiffin. I just think there are several players with injuries after a very tough game against Kentucky. It is not uncommon for players to relax through training sessions to avoid setbacks before match day. I think these are most of the problems.

If any of these players are out before Saturday, it will be a headache for the Lane Kiffin squad as replacements will need to be reinforced. That's normal too, but in such an important game everyone who takes the field has to perform at a high level.
