The MediScan mobile app allows users to create custom shoe insoles

A Florida technology company has launched a new mobile phone application called MediScan that allows users to create the same custom-made, medical-grade shoe inserts that a podiatrist would normally prescribe, without having to see a doctor.

Founded by two Florida-based podiatrists and a longtime medical device industry expert, MediScan Custom Orthotics offers the exact same orthotics and custom shoe inserts that a patient would normally receive from their podiatrist, without the stress of having to set and schedule appointments visit a doctor's office.

Thanks to the MediScan mobile app from Tampa-area podiatrists, doctor's appointments for custom shoe inserts are eliminated

These insoles can help with foot pain, foot pain, plantar fasciitis, flat feet, tendonitis, bunion prevention and general everyday comfort.

Within the application, users are guided through creating reliable 3D lidar scans of their feet using their phones or tablets. These scans are then sent to a MediScan podiatrist for review, who then designs the custom shoe implants based on the user's individual needs. The finished product is then sent directly to the user's front door without the patient ever having to enter a doctor's office.

“MediScan is about much more than just providing the highest quality customized shoe implants to get patients back on their feet and moving again.” This reduces the time it takes patients to find the right solution for them preserved, drastically shortened. “We’re excited to launch our mobile app and we’re excited to see our brand new technology in action,” said Dr. Bret Brennan, podiatrist and co-founder of MediScan.

Ultimately, MediScan will make it easier for people of all ages and athletic abilities to get moving again, at record speeds. By using MediScan, patients can receive their inserts without having to wait for them to be added to a doctor's appointment calendar, which can often take weeks.

Additionally, custom-made MediScan orthotics can be delivered anywhere in the United States. The company is the brainchild of Brennan and Dr. Anh Nyugen, who operates a successful multi-location podiatry practice in the Tampa Bay area. Additionally, Donald Dykstra, a medical device expert who has worked in the industry for more than a decade, is also a founding partner.

Individual orthoses from MediScan

MediScan Custom Orthotics has launched its mobile application that improves access to custom orthotics by eliminating additional costs

According to the CDC, one in five Americans struggle with chronic pain, including many who suffer from pain caused by improper foot alignment.

In August, Tampa technology company MediScan Custom Orthotics launched its revolutionary mobile application that improves access to custom orthotics by eliminating additional costs. Through MediScan, anyone with an IOS device can scan their foot and order customized, high-quality, medical-grade foot-hugging orthoses in just a few minutes. These custom-made orthotics can significantly help relieve pain by improving posture and promoting correct gait.

Improper foot alignment can lead to various problems such as plantar fasciitis, bunions, flat feet, and general foot discomfort. These conditions often result in pain that extends beyond the feet and affects overall mobility and quality of life.

MediScan's advanced technology solves these problems by simplifying the process of custom orthosis manufacturing. Through the MediScan app, available on iPhone and iPad, users can use the device's lidar technology to perform a precise scan of their feet without waiting for a doctor's visit. This innovative approach eliminates the need for traditional face-to-face consultations, allowing individuals to receive effective pain relief from the comfort of their own home.

The app guides users through a simple scanning process that captures detailed foot measurements. The data is then sent to MediScan's podiatry experts, who review and analyze the custom scans remotely. These experts use 3D modeling to create custom orthotics designed specifically for each individual to correct their alignment issues and relieve pain.

Custom orthotics are critical for treating and relieving pain associated with foot alignment issues. Studies have shown that orthotics can improve foot alignment, provide targeted support, and reduce stress on the feet, ankles, knees, and lower back. By solving arch and pressure distribution issues, custom orthotics provide a personalized solution that beats standard options like Dr. Scholl couldn't keep up. MediScan's technology not only improves the accuracy of orthosis design, but also ensures users receive a product tailored to their individual needs.
