The Sims 4 Life and Death expansion lets you WooHoo in a crypt and frolic naked

EA and Maxis have lifted the veil on The Sims 4 Life and Death expansion, including a new Grim Reaper job, three Halloween-themed locations, and a new WooHoo spot if you're brave enough. Sims 4 Life and Death will be released on October 31, 2024 for all platforms except Nintendo Switch, on which The Sims still does not live on.

Life and Death introduces the Ravenwood Empire, with three areas revolving around different types of spooky events. The first is Crow's Crossing, a village with cobbled streets, artisan grave makers, mysterious merchants selling spooky things, haunted houses, and frequent coffin sales. You can stop by the cemetery to mourn the loss of a loved one or celebrate love with a living person – yes, WooHoo does that and yes, it's in a crypt. Crow's Crossing has two festivals, including one with ties to the new rebirth system, but we'll get to that in a moment.

Whispering Glen is a more rural neighborhood with ruins and crypts to explore for intellectual purposes and a nightly Moon Revelry festival. If you come here during a full moon, you can swim in the moonlight without anything between your skin and the stars above. Then there is Mourningvale, a place for the dead more than the living. The bog can help you on your spiritual journey to a new life, and you may even meet the Grim Reaper.

Speaking of the Grim Reaper, The Sims 4 Life and Death expansion adds a Grim Reaper job that allows you to perfect the art of reaping souls, but you must start out as Grimtern. Determining the cause of death, meeting soul quotas, and deciding who gets to be reincarnated all fall under your purview, and if you do it really well, you might even be named Grimther of the Month. If you prefer something even more macabre, you could pursue a career as a mortician or mortician.

That's a lot, but Sims 4 Life and Death also changes the way Sims live and die. Your living Sim travels on a soul journey that Maxis describes as a combination of desire and aspiration systems. As they reach certain milestones on their soul journey, they can eventually be reincarnated after death and unlock special traits or form bonds with Sims bound to their previous lives. They also have a wish list that they can fill to achieve fulfillment, and that also counts towards rebirth.

Dead Sims can work toward completing their Soul Journey by pursuing unfinished business, or they can haunt the living and make their lives miserable, or stalk each other and have ghostly WooHoo wherever their spectral forms can fit. You can change the appearance of Ghost Sims in the Create a Sim menu, build Ghost Powers and Fear, and even earn Simoleons – why not?

Finally, Sims 4 Life and Death offers your Sims new ways to process loss, including four stages of grief that occur once the grief ends. They can seek help from other Sims for advice or comfort, and when they are ready to face their own mortality, they can leave a will and specific instructions not only about who gets what when the time comes, but also about how her funeral should proceed as well as.

If you purchase The Sims 4 Life and Death expansion between October 3, 2024 and December 12, 2024, you will receive a Lasting Legacy Family Portrait, a Mournful Melodies Music Box, and a Plumed Elegance Mask .
