DWCS fighter Dana White said he would be “absolutely decimated” in the UFC and is finally getting a contract after his third try

After earning a submission victory during Dana White's Contender Series last season, Torrez Finney was ordered by UFC bosses to return to the regional scene to gain even more experience before returning this year.

Torrez Finney then picked up just one more win on the regional scene before being offered another opportunity on Dana White's Contender Series this season, but after earning a decision win he was not given a contract.

Dana White expressed his disappointment that Finney hadn't fought multiple times when White told him to get more experience, and he brutally told him that he would be “completely decimated” in the UFC.

Torrez Finney finally gets a UFC contract after his third DWCS win

Despite White's brutal honesty with Finney, UFC executives decided to give him another chance on the Contender Series and allow him a third fight.

“The Punisher” faced Spanish fighter Abdellah Er-Ramy, and in impressive fashion, Finney showed a different side to his game this time, defeating Er-Ramy in the first round.

“My boy, Torrez. Now listen to me boy, you, Uncle Snoop, Aunt Didi, Coach Larry, Mom and Dad, none of you can argue with me, you brought a different energy tonight than the last two fights, that's how you do it Come here, Welcome to the UFC,” White said to Finney after the show.

The 25-year-old will be the last undefeated fighter to graduate from the Contender Series and will move into the UFC's deep middleweight division.

Dana White speaks out about past comments to Torrez Finney

Although DWCS has become a breeding ground for new UFC talent, Finney's path clearly hasn't been as easy as some of the others before him.

“The way I try to give my opinion when I go into this thing is not biased… When a guy comes in for the third time, I err on the side of respect, on the fact that he comes back and says , that I have to prove myself again.

“I went through his whole family and he, you can't deny the kid showed up with a completely different energy tonight. Not only his fight, but his entire attitude and personality were completely different tonight,” White continued at the post-fight press conference.

Of course, White's previous comments about Finney regarding his chances in the UFC were brought up, and the UFC boss stated that “we'll find out” whether or not the 25-year-old will be “decimated” in the UFC.

“We’ll find out. I told him, 'You didn't impress me, I think you're going to perish in this division here,' and he went back and, you know, he came back and took care of business,” the UFC boss explained.
