D.C. police search for clues in shooting on Georgia Avenue


Washington, D.C – Authorities are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect involved in a shooting in the Northwest.

On Monday, September 30, at approximately 4:21 p.m., Fourth District officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 5900 block of Georgia Avenue. Upon arrival, officers learned that a group of juveniles were involved in an altercation when the suspect began firing a weapon. A juvenile male was struck and then transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was captured on surveillance cameras and the images are available for public viewing.

Anyone with information regarding this incident or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact police at (202) 727-9099 or text the department's TEXT-TIP LINE at 50411. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of individuals responsible for violent crimes in the District of Columbia.

  • Two victims targeted in DC armed robbery

    Washington, D.C A suspect has been arrested in connection with two recent robberies in the southeast.

    On Thursday, September 26, at approximately 12:25 p.m., the suspect approached a victim who was walking toward a bus stop in the 2400 block of L'Enfant Square Southeast. He threatened the victim with a gun, demanded property and grabbed the victim's bag before fleeing in a black sedan.

    The following day, Friday, September 27, at approximately 10:15 a.m., the suspect again threatened a victim with a firearm as he parked his car in the 2300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue Southeast. After demanding her belongings, he fled the scene in a black sedan.

    Officers located the suspect shortly after the second robbery and arrested him. At the time of his arrest, they confiscated property from the robberies. Donovan Adams, 30, of no fixed address, was charged with two counts of robbery and possession of a pellet gun.

  • Officers intervene and arrest woman after heated argument in DC

    Washington, D.C – An arrest has been made in connection with a felony count of threatening to commit a crime in Northwest, DC

    On Monday, September 30, at approximately 3:00 p.m., officers were stopped for a report of property damage in the 3100 block of 14th Street, Northwest. Upon arrival, officers observed a verbal altercation with an employee. The suspect threatened to attack the employee and used homophobic slurs.

    Officers immediately arrested 28-year-old Jasmine Cunningham of Northwest and charged her with threatening to kidnap or injure a person and second-degree larceny.

    The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating this incident as it may be motivated by hate or bias. This designation may change as more information is collected during the investigation. Even if MPD committed a hate crime, that is no guarantee that it will be prosecuted as such. The Special Liaison Branch is supporting the investigation.
