Top 10: Electric Motorcycles | EV Magazine

Ducati's foray into the world of electric motorcycles may have been relatively recent, but it's already making big waves.

In 2021, the Italian brand unveiled its first electric prototype, the V21L, demonstrating its claim to be a leader in high performance. Ducati quickly consolidated its position by becoming the exclusive supplier of the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup from 2023.

Tested at the Misano World Circuit by experienced driver Michele Pirro, the V21L is more than just a prototype – it's a statement of intent.

While Ducati faces challenges in terms of battery size, weight and range, the company is determined to overcome these hurdles by leveraging its racing expertise. With plans to transfer this cutting-edge technology from the track to future consumer models, Ducati's electric motorcycles promise the same performance and innovation that have distinguished the brand for decades.

The unique features of Ducati's electric motorcycle development include:

  • Racing expertise from MotoGP
  • The focus is on performance and lightweight design
  • Own development by Ducati Corse and research and development teams
  • Aims for consistent power delivery throughout the race through advanced cooling systems
  • The plan is to make electric motorcycles available to all MotoE participants

For Ducati, this is the beginning of an important new chapter in its history, focusing on high-performance electric motorcycles while maintaining its brand identity.
