What will be your top priorities if elected?

My top priority is funding our public schools; improving access to health care, including abortion, IVF and contraception; expansion of voting rights; protection of the environment; and fight for equal rights for all Texans. I have also passed legislation that creates jobs, supports economic development and tourism, and increases economic opportunity in Williamson County.

What particularly qualifies you for this position?

I am a consensus builder and proven leader who has succeeded in bringing people together to solve the problems we face. Although I am consistently among the most progressive members of the Legislature, I am deeply committed to the Texas House's traditions of bipartisanship and thoughtful deliberation.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing your district and how will you improve it?

Texas leaders are more concerned with partisan red meat and attacking Texans than with the everyday issues that affect our lives. We must stop voucher fraud and fund our schools, expand Medicaid, restore reproductive freedom, improve housing and affordability, and improve our infrastructure – from water and transportation to broadband and parks.

What would you like people in your area to know about you?

Every session, I file and pass bills that come from voters. These include, but are not limited to, placing the crisis hotline and text line on the back of student ID cards, allowing pharmacies to provide emergency 30-day refills of insulin, and establishing a medically fragile registry to help vulnerable Texans during disasters .
