Cleveland releases first-ever search and seizure report

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) – Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb and Cleveland Police Chief Dorothy Todd, along with other city officials, will release the city's first search and seizure report Wednesday morning.

Members of the administration, Police Accountability Team, Ministry of Public Security and Police will discuss the report's findings and highlights.

Mayor Bibb said this is an “important milestone” toward compliance with the Justice Department’s consent decree.

In October 2018, city officials released their proposed search and seizure policies to comply with the consent decree.

The purpose of this policy is to ensure that all searches and seizures conducted by Cleveland Police Department officers comply with the Constitution and federal and state law.
