2024-25 NHL Season: Key Teams

There's no doubt that the Panthers will be the team to watch after claiming their first Stanley Cup victory in a dramatic 4-3 series win over the Edmonton Oilers earlier this year.

captain Aleksander Barkov and his team are aiming to become the third franchise to win back-to-back titles in their 21st season^st century after retaining much of their championship core of players.

In the meantime, the Oilers will be looking to get revenge and win their first Stanley Cup in 35 years.

They showed their courage when they came back from a 3-0 deficit to equalize in last season's final, and although they narrowly missed out, they remain a competitive team flying the flag for Canada.

Since the Arizona Coyotes left the NHL after ice hockey operations were discontinued, the team was replaced by the Utah Hockey Club, which took over the Coyotes' players and staff.

It will be exciting to see how the NHL's newest team – at least in terms of its name – fares in Salt Lake City, home of the 2034 Winter Olympics.
