Arrest warrants issued for suspect in SP shooting

UPDATE: The Southern Pines Police Department announced that Marlon Harris has been arrested.


Arrest warrants have been issued for a suspect in a shooting that occurred Sunday afternoon in Southern Pines.

Just before 4:30 p.m., a teenager was shot at the Brookside Park Apartments

“Upon arrival, patrol members were informed that several male subjects had been shooting at each other, but they were left in a silver or gray Chrysler 300 prior to the officer's arrival,” the Southern Pines Police Department said in a statement to the Sandhills Sentinel with Monday morning. “On scene, the department was advised that a seventeen (17) year old victim had been transported to First Health via a private vehicle. The victim, who suffered a non-life-threatening injury, was treated and released from the hospital.”

Police said it was not a random act of violence.

Arrest warrants have been issued for Marlon Harris, 19, of Aberdeen, for assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, armed to terrorize the public, and discharging a firearm within the city limits.

Police are asking for the community's help in finding Harris. Identify the other people suspected of being involved and locate the vehicle.
