Flightbeam Studios releases KSFO San Francisco International Airport v1.2 for MSFS

Flightbeam Studios has released the latest update for its highly respected company KSFO San Francisco International Airport Scenery in Microsoft Flight Simulator. Version 1.2 introduces a number of improvements, expanded features and new configuration options to further improve the realism and customization of this popular airport add-on.

Custom runway lighting

The highlight of this update is the introduction of all-new, bespoke taxiway lighting. As the developer explains in the blog post accompanying this update, Flightbeam's implementation is completely custom, unlike most airport add-ons that rely on the Microsoft Flight Simulator SDK for lighting effects.

These lights now feature precisely colored green and yellow taxi lights with detailed runway entry and exit markings. Additionally, the lights cast a realistic beam onto the asphalt or concrete, creating a more authentic nighttime rolling experience. Each light was positioned by hand to match SFO's real layout.

Precise ILS glideslope antennas

With this update, Flightbeam Studios also introduces a more faithful replica of the ILS Glideslope antennas at KSFO. These antennas are now correctly displayed at key touchdown points on Runway 28 and other areas of the airport.

New Gate Clutter configuration option

With version 1.2, users can now adjust the level of clutter at airport gates to better suit their preferences or operational needs. This new configuration option allows users to reduce or completely remove static objects on the gates, freeing up space for ground service equipment used by GSX or standard MSFS objects. However, it should be noted that due to the encryption of these installations, this feature is not available to those who purchased the scenery through the MSFS Marketplace.

Improved lighting

The update also brings improvements to lighting, particularly at the gates and surrounding areas. These improvements provide better visibility and realistic lighting effects, improving the overall visual experience of the airport in low light conditions.

Geographical position markers

New in this version is the inclusion of geographic position markers. These markings, which help pilots taxi in low visibility conditions, have been implemented to match the actual airport layout.

Flightbeams KSFO v1.2 is now available via Contrail. For those who purchased the scenery through the Microsoft Flight Simulator Marketplace, the update will be available soon, pending the standard processing time.
