Saturday appointments will be available at Texas DPS driver license offices throughout October

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is now offering Saturday appointments at select driver license offices across the state through the end of October.

Participating offices in all regions of Texas will be open half a day every Saturday through the end of the month to serve additional customers in need of driver's license or identification card renewals or replacement services, but by appointment only. Depending on your location, appointments may also be available for new driver's license and ID card services for Texas residents.

Appointments are available at the Amarillo office on October 26th from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m

Customers can book appointments online.

Saturday appointments are available statewide on October 5, 12, 19 and 26.

Last month, DPS also offered Saturday appointments at driver's license offices across the state to help more customers get the services they need. Although these appointments were filled quickly, many customers with appointments still didn't show up or canceled.

The no-show rate for Saturday appointments in September was around 30 percent – which means that around one in three people did not show up after making the appointment.

The department would like to remind customers who have appointments and can no longer keep them to please cancel them so that they can then be used by other customers who are available and would like to take advantage of them. No-shows have a huge negative impact on the number of customers the department can serve.
