New app brings Tuscaloosa police to your smartphone

The Tuscaloosa Police Department has launched a new smartphone app that will allow residents and visitors to stay in touch, among other things.

The app is now available for both iPhones and Androids, meaning almost anyone with a modern mobile smartphone can download and use it.

The new technology allows users to receive notifications directly from police about their operations in the region and also sign up to receive other relevant public safety alerts, such as alerts from the National Weather Service.

Parents can communicate directly with the school resource officer where their children are enrolled through the app. Visitors can receive traffic information and other notifications on home game days. You can provide crime tips in the city, search a sex offender list, and find tons of other resources right in the app.

The app has a clean interface and according to TPD, it is made by a brand of OCV, LLC. aptly named ThePoliceApp.com, whose specialty is developing these apps for American law enforcement agencies

“Over 80 percent of people in the United States own and use smartphones as their primary means of communication,” said Kevin Cummings, partner and CRO of OCV. “Mobile apps offer authorities a better way to alert, inform and prepare the public. Apps enable public safety agencies to reach and serve their citizens where they are: on their smartphones.”

The app, referred to as Tuscaloosa PD in the App Store, is available for download now.
