The Detroit Tigers continued their shocking rebound with a wild card sweep and eliminated the AL West champion Houston Astros with a comeback win. The Kansas City Royals followed suit in the second AL match of the day, defeating the Baltimore Orioles with a 2-1 victory in Baltimore.

Andy Ibanez came through with a bases-loaded double in the eighth inning to give the Tigers an upset win in Houston. Detroit faces the AL Central champion Cleveland Guardians in the ALDS, beginning Saturday in Cleveland.


For the second day in a row, Bobby Witt Jr. drove in a decisive run for the Royals. And for the second straight day, Baltimore's offense was held in check by Kansas City's pitching today as the Royals advanced to the ALDS. The Royals will face the Yankees starting Saturday in New York.
