Respect! Khalil Rountree reveals nasty conflict with Sean Strickland gets slammed: 'I apologize, I'm an idiot'

Beef crushed!

Khalil Roundtree Jr. competes in his first Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) main event at UFC 307 this weekend (Sat., Oct. 5, 2024) and looks to defeat the light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira from the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Pereira brought former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland into his training camp to prepare for Rountree Jr. At UFC 307 media day (watch here), Rountree Jr. was asked about Pereira's decision to bring in someone he had a history of feuds with, and he revealed that Strickland had actually apologized for their problems in the past.

“Yeah. I mean, I saw it and I was just cool,” Rountree Jr. told the media. “Honestly, the last interaction I had with Sean Strickland was at UFC PI. It was literally the day after Dan Ige stepped in for this fight, like three hours, four hours in advance or something like that… Out of the blue, Sean Strickland came up to me and just said, “Khalil, I'm sorry. I'm sorry.” an idiot.” Actually, I kind of like you. I think you're liberal, but, you know, but overall I like you, or I respect you, something like that.

“So what I understood was almost like squashing some beef, you know what I mean, or just saying, 'Look, dude, I am who I am.' I'll say what I'm going to say, but I come here to personally shake your hand and tell you that I think you're a liberal, but you know, to a certain extent I respect you.” You know , what do I mean? It was like that. So I took it as, okay, you come here to make peace, so to speak. I left it at that. So what's happening now, no matter what's said or whatever, I have that kind of memory, so I know it's really not a problem. It's really just talk and I'm not going to deal with it,” Rountree Jr. concluded.

Strickland completely antagonized Rountree Jr. in 2022 after “War Horse” cried during his post-fight interview, and insulted him whenever he had the chance over the past two years.

On the other hand, Rountree didn't sell anything at all, ignored him and even acted like he didn't know who he was.

Luckily, this unpleasant argument is over for now (until Strickland freaks out again).
