High school football in Florida is seeing a transfer of high-profile players this season

It may be nothing new when it comes to players switching teams during the season, but high school football in Florida is currently past the midpoint of the season and has already seen quite a bit of movement.

The offseason in the Sunshine State when it comes to high school football transfers has steadily increased over the years, and now the offseason has become more of a normal occurrence.

It's not like there's a long list of players who transferred over the course of the season that we know anyway, but there are a few that we know that contributed to their new (well, not really new) teams .

Both major players came from Chaminade-Madonna ranked No. 8 in High School On SI's current Florida Top 25 rankingswith quarterback Zack Katz and wide receiver Jabari Brady both returning to the schools they played at a year ago, True North Classical and Monarch.

Katz is back at True North Classical after leaving the Titans for Chaminade-Madonna in the offseason following the 2023 season. The second-year quarterback has completed 22 of 33 passes for 429 yards and six touchdowns.

As a freshman at True North in 2023, Katz enjoyed a standout season for the Class 1M semifinalists, completing 188 of 229 passes for 2,973 yards, 38 touchdowns and just one interception. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Class of 2027 quarterback already has offers from Appalachian State, Miami (FL) and Ole Miss.

Brady, rated a 4-star wide receiver for 2026 according to 247Sports, joined the Lions in the offseason and formed what appeared to be the best receiver in the country at the time. Along with players like Koby Howard, Jasen Lopez, Kyle Washington and Denairius Gray, it looked like Brady would be the favorite in Chaminade-Madonna's new-look offense.

In Brady's first game at Monarch, he's already making an impression on his old/new team. The junior wide receiver scored three touchdowns in Monarch's 52-0 win over Coral Springs in his first game with the Knights.

Last season at Monarch, Brady helped the Knights reach the Class 4M semifinals before falling to Mandarin. As a sophomore, the wide receiver finished 2023 with 70 passes for 1,392 yards and 10 touchdowns. In 2022, as a freshman for the Knights, Brady caught 43 passes for 864 yards and six scores.

What's even more intriguing is the twist when Brady faces his old team, Chaminade-Madonna, as he doesn't have to wait long at all. Brady will face the Lions this week in one of the Sunshine State's best Week 7 games.
