Evan Conti (2025) switches his commitment from Texas Longhorns to Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Evan Conti of Batavia, Illinois, verbally announced his commitment to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the fall of 2025.

Conti, who swims for Academy Bullets Swim Club and Marmion Academy, was named to the Best of the Rest category in our inaugural Class of 2025 rankings. Last November, he became the first member of this class to publicly commit to the Longhorns after their longtime head coach Eddie Reese announced his resignation.

There seemed to be a bit of a lull in recruiting at Texas while Swimmers waited to see who would take the reins from Reese, but there has been an explosion in commitments since then Bob Bowman assumed the position of new director of swimming and diving for Texas. Now Conti is at least the second member of the 2024 class to announce a commitment from Texas to another program Max Goettschwho announced he was going to Cal.

Conti, primarily a backstroke and freestyle specialist, will now join a team that has enjoyed rapid growth under his leadership over the past two years Chris LindauerHowever, whose future is somewhat unclear after the school announced that the men's team would be suspended for the entire 2024-2025 season. Conti is scheduled to take a freshman course in South Bend that includes: Luke Bucaro, Brady Calkins, Ognjen Pilipovic, Zack OswaldAnd Owen Tharrington.
