How to use the Apple Passwords app

The latest Apple OS updates (iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia) introduced a standalone password app to make passwords, passkeys, Wi-Fi passwords and verification codes easily accessible to users.

You can access the Passwords app on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Vision Pro, and Windows using the iCloud for Windows app. All passwords are securely synced to iCloud Keychain so you can access them across all your devices. If you use AutoFill, you can have passwords automatically saved in the Passwords app.

The Passwords app lets you filter and sort accounts by creation date, credential type, or shared group status, making it easier to find the accounts you need.

Security section of the Passwords app

The security section of the app will inform you if you have chosen easy-to-guess or reused passwords, or if that particular password has been compromised (e.g. appeared in public data leaks). If you click on a warning, you will be asked to change the password. You can select the “Change Password” button, which will open the website of the online service for which you should update the password.
