SWAT presence, police cordon at Candler Village Apartments

A significant police presence, including SWAT teams, was reported at the Candler Village Apartments in DeKalb County late Tuesday evening.

FOX 5 observed police blocking off streets and cordoning off areas near the 2400 block of Candler Road, where the apartments are located. The officers used megaphones to call on a person to leave a house with their hands raised.

FOX 5 crews also discovered the use of tear gas by police.

Due to police operations, residents in the area have been unable to return to their homes and authorities have provided limited information to the public.

It was not immediately clear how the situation began or who was the target of the SWAT team's attention.
