CBS Sports updates top 10 QB power rankings ahead of Week 6

Some great quarterback performances lit up the Week 5 slate College football games. This also led to an upheaval in CBS Sports' updated Top 10 QB Power Rankings on Wednesday.

After some great play late in Saturday's game against Georgia, Jalen Milroe jumped to the top Tom Fornellis Rankings. That meant Cam Ward fell back to 2nd place after a bumpy start and ultimately took a thrilling win Virginia Tech Friday evening.

Another notable name that appeared in CBS Sports' Top 10 QB Power Rankings was Hajj-Malik Williams. The former backup too UNLV then moved into the starting role Matthew Slukas Deciding to redshirt in the midst of one ZERO situation, and he handled the situation brilliantly, ensuring the Rebels remained undefeated in the young season.

Week 6 is quickly approaching and there will be more opportunities for QBs to move up the rankings. Conference play is in full swing across the country, and the College Football Playoffs The rankings are out in less than a month – which means things are heating up quickly.

It will be interesting to see what awaits us further down the calendar as the calendar turns to October. For now, though, here's a look at CBS Sports' top 10 QB power rankings ahead of Week 6.

1. Jalen Milroe, Alabama

Jalen Milroe's strong performance against Georgia landed him at No. 1 on CBS Sports' Top 10 QB Power Rankings. He led Alabama He showed a powerful offensive and only made the game-winning throw late Ryan Williams to lead the Crimson Tide to victory – and first place in the AP Top 25.

Milroe did it with both his arms and his legs, throwing for 374 yards, running for 117 and scoring four total touchdowns. That includes Williams' 75-yard game-winning score with just over two minutes to play after Georgia took the lead one play earlier, and Alabama now has plenty of momentum heading into Week 6.

In the first game against Virginia Tech, Cam Ward was up and down. However, as the game progressed, he found his footing and played a crucial role in helping Miami avoid a stunning upset on its home field.

Ward threw for 343 yards and four touchdowns and also added 57 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground. He threw two interceptions but recovered significantly while continuing to have success Shannon Dawson Crime in Coral Gables.

3. Shedeur Sanders, Colorado

Don't look now, but Colorado is 4-1 in Week 6. Shedeur Sanders is a big reason for that after putting together another big game against him UCF last time outside.

Tennessee is coming off a bye week, but Iamaleava continues to turn heads as one of the best quarterbacks in the country. He showed an impressive performance Oklahomawhen he threw for 194 yards and a touchdown to give the Vols a 25-15 win in Norman.

5. Hajj-Malik Williams, UNLV

UNLV became the most talked-about team in college football last week as the Matthew Sluka situation unfolded. His departure opened the door for Hajj-Malik Williams to take over the quarterback position, and the Rebels offense didn't miss a beat.

Williams threw for 182 yards and three touchdowns while adding a team-leading 118 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground. UNLV now enters Week 6 with a perfect 4-0 record and Williams is sure to be an important part of the unit moving forward.

6. Garrett Nussmeier, LSU

Nobody in the SEC has thrown more passes this year than Garrett Nussmeier. That's one of the reasons he ranks second in the league in passing yards per game when leading LSU's Offensive with a new look.

Nussmeier spoke further about this last week South AlabamaHe threw for 409 yards and four touchdowns and two interceptions. His arm talent is impressive and that's why he made CBS Sports' Top 10 QB Power Rankings.

7. Cade Klubnik, Clemson

All eyes were on us Cade Klubnik Starting this season and how he would adapt in year two Garrett Riley System. He is averaging a career-high number of yards per completion through four games Clemson continues to recover well from a difficult opener against Georgia.

8. Dillon Gabriel, Oregon

Through his first four games Oregon, Dillon Gabriel didn't miss a moment. He beams in Will Steins system and enters Week 6 as the nation's leader in completion rate.

Oregon's offense continued to dominate last week UCLA on the way to a 34:13 victory. Gabriel threw for 278 yards and three touchdowns as he settles in and prepares for Big Ten play where he can improve a bit Ohio State looms in Week 7 after Saturday's matchup vs. Michigan State.

9. Blake Horvath, Marine

For the first time since 1945 marine And army Both are 4-0. Blake Horvath leads the charge for the midshipmen who cruised by UAB 41-18 to improve to 3-0 in American Athletic Conference play.

Horvath ran for 84 yards and a touchdown in Navy's option offense, but also completed 9 of 11 passes for 225 yards and two touchdowns. The Midshipmen have a lot of momentum heading into the duel against the Service Academy air force on Saturday.

10. Arch Manning, Texas

Through two games in Quinn Ewers' Location, Arch Manning showed what the future could look like Texas. He was successful in a dominant win over Mississippi State to send the Longhorns strong into the bye week.

Manning completed 26 of 31 passes for 325 yards and two touchdowns in the 35-13 win. He's nearing 1,000 passing yards as a sophomore, but with Ewers nearing his return, Manning will likely return to the bench – but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Week 6 offers another interesting slate of games and the QB rankings could continue to shift. However, with October in full swing, the pressure will increase every week until December approaches.
