Egg Recall: FDA Classifies Three Egg Brands as “Highest Possible Risk” in Recall Update; throw away as quickly as possible

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has classified a recently recalled egg brand as a “Class I” high-risk recall.

According to the agency, a “Class I” recall is the highest possible risk category of a recall classified by the FDA.

This means there is “a situation in which there is a reasonable likelihood that use of or exposure to an infringing product will result in serious health consequences or death,” according to the FDA.

Recalled egg brands that fall under this classification include chicken eggs from Milos Poultry Farms and Tony's Fresh Market and duck eggs from Happy Quackers Farm, all sold by Milos Poultry Farms LLC.

The affected strain of Salmonella is antibiotic resistant, which may make serious bacterial infections more difficult to treat.
