Co-Main Event Spotlight | UFC 307: Pereira vs. Rountree Jr.

“The Venezuelan Vixen” is a threat in all areas of combat and has claimed all but three victories. She won six of her twelve wins by submission and three of them by knockout.

Meeting in the middle

Although they competed on the same season of TUF, the two never crossed paths. Now they get to do this at a time when the stakes have never been higher, and it feels like this fight has been a long time coming and there has been a lot of tension between them. Since Pennington won the belt, she has appealed to Peña and vice versa.

On paper, the two bantamweights are a pretty close match. Pennington is 5-foot-10, while Peña is an inch shorter but has a slight two-inch advantage. Both athletes take an orthodox stance.

It's no secret that Pennington excels at boxing. It was on full display against Bueno Silva, and it got better and better as the fight progressed. She has a significant shot accuracy of 52 percent, compared to Peña's 47.9 percent. However, Peña could have more success locally when she gets there. Despite a higher takedown accuracy of 55.2 percent, Pennington was able to defend them and has a takedown defense of 63.9 percent.

Will Pennington secure her first successful title defense, or will Peña become a two-time bantamweight champion and begin her reign again?
