One bad software update after another: Apple's recent lack of quality control is disappointing

When it comes to software updates, Apple has been on a bit of a losing streak lately. This is particularly worth noting since 2024 was the year that the company and its user base really had high hopes for. All major Apple products should outshine the competition. So what went wrong?

Apple Intelligence's announcement received a fairly mixed response. While some, like me, were excited about AI on the iPhone, many others immediately wondered how they could opt out of it. Privacy concerns have also been raised, particularly due to Apple's partnership with OpenAI for its GPT AI models.

Perhaps the biggest point of discussion, however, was the fact that the new iPhone 16 models would not launch alongside Apple Intelligence. In fact, the full rollout of Apple's AI capabilities won't be complete until some unspecified date next year. This, coupled with the availability of Apple Intelligence on the iPhone 15 Pro, meant that the iPhone 16 was a very unconvincing upgrade.
