Prespakis is one of seven AFLW players fined for melee

Star AFLW midfielder Maddy Prespakis is among seven players fined for taking part in a heated scuffle between Essendon and Sydney.

Prespakis' late impact on the Swan Sofia Hurley, just moments before the three-quarter time siren on Wednesday night, sparked an angry reaction from Sydney's Alexia Hamilton.

Hamilton and Prespakis went head-to-head, the pair eventually being dragged to the ground and others joining in the commotion as the melee threatened to spiral out of control.

The mood eventually calmed down and players from both sides were fined on Thursday.

Because Essendon, Prespakis, Paige Scott, Jacqui Vogt and Brooke Walker can accept a $100 fine with an early guilty plea.

Swans trio Tanya Kennedy, Cynthia Hamilton and Alexia Hamilton can also accept a $100 fine.

Sydney's Montana Beruldsen can accept $250 for attacking Mia Busch.
