Man arrested in shooting in Cherokee Co

CHEROKEE, Ala. (WBRC) – The Cherokee County Sheriff's Department is investigating a shooting.

It happened just before 5 p.m. Wednesday at a home on County Road 33 in the Ellisville community

Officers immediately began searching for the suspect in his vehicle when emergency dispatch received a report that he had stolen a car from a friend. A BOLO was broadcast nationwide for the suspect, Terry A. Huggins, 35 of Eight Mile, Alabama, and the stolen car.

Glencoe police and the Etowah County Sheriff's Office arrested Huggins in the stolen car just after 8 p.m

Huggins is in the Cherokee County Detention Center on charges of first-degree assault and theft of property.

The victim was taken to a hospital.
