The San Francisco Giants don't have much to figure out with this year's arbitration class

The San Francisco Giants enter the offseason with just four players eligible for arbitration: Mike Yastrzemski, LaMonte Wade Jr., Tyler Rogers and Camilo Doval. New president of baseball operations Buster Posey could choose to keep all four as he wants to build a competitive team under his leadership.

Yastrzemski, a key outfielder for the Giants, has a strong left-handed bat and valuable defense, while Wade's versatility at first base and in the outfield has been crucial to the team's success. Both have been strong contributors at the plate and are important in maintaining offensive depth. MLB Trade Rumors expects the duo to receive a total of $14.2 million, with $9.5 million going to Yastrzemski and $4.7 million to Wade.

On the pitching side, Rogers, a side-arming reliever, was a workhorse in the bullpen and provided consistency in both high-leverage and middle-inning roles. His $5.5 million award wouldn't be an overpayment for his years of stability.

Doval, the team's former closer who was later briefly demoted to the minors, is the biggest question mark in this class. His projection is just $4.6 million, a significant increase from his pre-trial salary of $770,000, but significantly less than one would expect for a closer with 92 career saves. The Giants cut him to Triple-A in mid-August after posting a 4.70 ERA, only to see the flamethrower hit 5.40 upon his return.

In a fortunate piece of “disaster-averted news,” Doval reportedly turned down a multi-year, $50 million extension offer over the summer and focused on Edwin Díaz's $102 million deal that the closer signed with the New York Mets.

Posey will need to navigate the arbitration process carefully, but retaining these key players would allow the Giants to maintain a strong foundation heading into 2025. Since all four players are crucial to the Giants' lineup and bullpen stability, keeping them through arbitration makes sense for Posey to set up the next phase of the team's competitive window.
