Inter legend Alessandro Altobelli is full of praise for Mehdi Taremi

Legendary former Inter Milan striker Alessandro Altobelli has been a big fan of Mehdi Taremi since his time at Al-Gharafa.

Altobelli praised the 32-year-old Inter striker in an interview published today in the print edition of Turin newspaper Tuttosport FCInterNews.

The Iranian international Taremi has never been more famous than he is now.

At the age of 32, Taremi made the move Inter from Porto.

This was the biggest transfer of the veteran striker's career. He has been productive everywhere so far, but the Nerazzurri will be his biggest challenge yet.

Over the course of four years at Porto, Taremi has developed a good reputation. Both in the Portuguese League and the Champions League.

Taremi had actually been at Rio Ave for a season before moving to Porto. This was his first season in Europe and a clear sign of what a force he can be on the continent.

However, before arriving in Europe, Taremi had an impressive career.

The Iranian international had started in his home country and had become a key player for Iranian giants Persepolis.

And before moving to Europe with Rio Ave, Taremi played for Al-Gharafa in Qatar.

And that's where former Inter striker Altobelli discovered Taremi for the first time. At that time he was working as an expert for the Middle East broadcaster Al Jazeera.

Altobelli remarked: “Everyone discovered him when he was at Porto.”

“Actually, I had already seen him in Qatar, at Al-Gharafa,” remarked the former striker.

“When he played there, I didn’t necessarily wonder if he would go to a top club,” Altobelli said of Taremi. “But I can assure you, you could already see how stupid he was.”

“It was clear that he could play in Europe.”

“Now of course we’re talking about him playing for Inter, one of the best teams in the world.”

Altobelli said: “For me, Taremi is a player who can have a say.”

“He will need playing time. But we have already seen that the coach and the club have confidence in him.”

“He is at the beginning of his Nerazzurri journey,” Altobelli noted of Taremi. “He only played one complete game for us.”
