Guide to Having Fun at the State Fair of Texas

DALLAS – It’s finally here! The State Fair of Texas has officially opened its doors and crowds are flocking to the fairgrounds to sample the selection of fried foods and even win a stuffed animal or two. Here's a guide to everything you need to know to join in the fun.

How long is the fair open?

The fair opened its doors on September 27th and runs until October 20th, so there are still more than two weeks of fun left.

Parking barriers and ticket counters open daily at 9 a.m. After 5:00 p.m. all minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Sunday – Thursday: 10 a.m. – 9 p.m
Friday – Saturday: 10 a.m. – 10 p.m

How much do tickets cost?

The ticket prices for the fair depend on various factors, such as: B. the days, the age of the buyer and his profession. Weekdays are generally cheaper.

General admission: $25-15
Child (3 to 12 years): $18 to $5
Children 2 and younger: Free
Seniors (60 years and older): $10-18
Seniors ½ price every Thursday: $5

If you're looking for a bargain, if you bring five canned goods on Wednesdays, the ticket is just $5.

All food will be donated to the North Texas Food Bank.

Senior Days take place every Thursday during the fair. Tickets are only $5.

Every Tuesday and Thursday you can purchase your ticket online for a reduced price of just $10. The catch is that only Big Tex Insiders will receive the promo code, so you definitely need to sign up.

If you would like to enjoy Mass in the evening, everyone pays children's only rates totaling $5 every day after 5:00 p.m.

How much is parking?

State Fair official parking is $30 per space. Organizers say the most convenient parking is accessed through Gate 2, located at 925 S. Haskell.

What are vouchers?

Vouchers are the most important source of currency at trade fairs, be it for buying food, playing games or traveling to the many attractions.

Each voucher is worth $1. Vouchers from previous trade fairs are also valid this year.

Vouchers can be purchased in advance online or at stands within the trade fair.

What are the bag regulations?

Only certain bags are allowed at the fair and all must be searched.

When is the football game?

The University of Oklahoma and University of Texas game begins at 2:30 p.m. on October 12 in the Cotton Bowl

A game ticket includes entry to the trade fair on the day of the game.
