Drivers are advised to be alert for the “Frogger” event

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Law enforcement agencies in the Green Bay area are hosting their third and final “Frogger” event of the year on Wednesday.

It's all about pedestrian safety, named after the video game where you have to get a frog safely across a road.

This is a partnership between local law enforcement and Wello's Yield to Your Neighbor campaign, tied into Pedestrian Safety Month.

Remember that the law requires you to give way to pedestrians.

Green Bay police and other law enforcement officers will patrol the intersections on Military Ave. from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 7th St. and the intersection at Monroe Ave. from 12:30 p.m. and Emilie St. near downtown monitor 2:30 p.m

They will make sure you yield to pedestrians.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the number of pedestrians injured or killed remains high. In 2022, more than 7,500 people were killed and more than 67,000 injured nationwide.

Wednesday's event is about awareness, whether you're the person behind the wheel or the pedestrian.

Because it's all about awareness and education, you may only get a warning if you're pulled over – but that's up to the officer.

Wello wants us all to always remember the motto of the event: “Give way to your neighbor.” It is safer. It's polite. It's the law.
